
The Austin Project (TAP) is an intermediary organization that identifies expertise and innovations at the local level to test new and promising practices and promote effective and evidence-based practices. Since 1991 TAP has received more than $5 million from local community members, state, county and federal agencies, organizations and foundations to support early literacy, strengthen families, school and neighborhood revitalization in the Austin Community. Over fifteen years ago, Walt and Elspeth Rostow joined other community leaders to found TAP. Their goals was for all children to have equal opportuniteis for healthy childhood, a good education and a bright future. TAP's ultimate goal is to ensure that chirdren enter school ready for success.
